Celtic Style Dog - CLTDOG1

This design was inspired by the Celtic style zoomorphic creatures found on illuminated manuscripts of the early Christian period in Ireland. The traditional key pattern border is also of Celtic origin.

To simulate the effect of the vibrant pigments used in the original manuscripts the design has been worked almost entirely in glistening Anchor Marlitt thread. This is a shiny viscose thread and is therefore a little harder to work with than standard thread. Only Anchor Marlitt and scheme is provided, but if desired you may substitute six-stranded cotton.

Completed design measures 8½" x 7" (216mm x 178mm) and is displayed here on 14ct ivory (cream) Aida.
